Ghanaian law-enforcement authorities arrested Abiola Kayode in April 2023 pursuant to a U.S. extradition request. After extradition was granted, he was surrendered to FBI agents, who brought him to Nebraska. His first reported U.S. court appearance was 11 December 2024.

Kayode, a Nigerian citizen formerly listed among FBI cyber fugitives, was indicted over an alleged business-email-compromise scheme that prosecutors say cost businesses more than $6 million. The charges in the linked announcement are allegations, not a conviction. His nationality is not Ghanaian, but the arrest and transfer route was Ghana to the U.S.
