Federal prosecutors in Ohio say Frederick Kumi, also known as Abu Trica, was arrested in Ghana on 11 December 2025 and extradited to the United States on 9 July 2026. The FBI Cleveland Division investigated the case.
According to the indictment, Kumi and others allegedly targeted more than 80 older Americans through online romance schemes involving losses of more than $8 million. These are allegations, not a conviction. A co-defendant named in the announcement should not be assumed to have been extradited.
