The Southern District of New York and the FBI announced that Ghana extradited Isaac Oduro Boateng, Inusah Ahmed and Derrick Van Yeboah. The three arrived in the United States on 7 August 2025 to face an indictment.
Prosecutors allege a Ghana-based criminal organisation stole more than $100 million from victims through romance scams and business email compromise. The sum describes the alleged enterprise, not a finding that Boateng personally stole that amount. The indictment is an allegation; a fourth named defendant, Patrick Kwame Asare, was reported at large at the time and is not included among the extradited people.
