Joseph Kwadwo Badu Boateng was arrested in Ghana on 27 May 2025 and extradited to the United States on 26 June 2025. The FBI Phoenix Division's Sierra Vista office investigated the case.
Prosecutors alleged a romance and inheritance fraud scheme targeting older victims. A later DOJ release says Boateng pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit wire fraud and agreed to restitution of approximately $4.4 million. He is a different person from Isaac Oduro Boateng in the New York case.
