Border Force officers intercepted a rigid-hulled inflatable boat near Benacre Broad on 24 June 2024. Knowles and Gumrukguoglu attempted to evade officers; investigators found 22 packages containing 350kg of cocaine under a tarpaulin on the boat.

Bruce Knowles, 56, from Dereham, Norfolk, received 17 years and three months in prison; Ferhat Gumrukguoglu, 32, from the Netherlands, received 15 years at Ipswich Crown Court on 17 May 2025. Both had pleaded guilty to attempting to import a controlled drug.

The supplied graphic calls the consignment £39 million, while BBC reporting values it at £37 million. Those are estimates, not separate seizures. This is an earlier conviction, not a new September 2026 arrest.
