Nigeria reports capture of two Ansaru leaders (Nigeria)
Nigeria's National Counter Terrorism Centre reported that security services captured Mahmud Muhammad Usman, also known as Abu Bara’a, and a second Ansaru leader in operations between May and July 2025.
What the record says
The 18 August 2025 announcement says the men had been on national and international terror watch lists.
