INTERPOL said South African authorities raided seven Johannesburg locations linked to suspected romance and investment scams, arrested 39 people, seized USD 2.67 million and blocked 257 bank accounts.
What the record says
The Johannesburg action was part of Operation Jackal IV, conducted from November 2025 to June 2026. INTERPOL reported 58 arrests and 263 suspects identified across the international operation, not 58 arrests in South Africa. Its 25 August 2026 release says many cases remained under investigation; an arrest or identification does not establish guilt.
