ICE arrests Nigerian national in Massachusetts; agency cites prior convictions (United States)
A 24 September report says US immigration officers arrested Rapheal Oludemilade Adebowale in Bridgewater, Massachusetts; the Department of Homeland Security said he had earlier larceny and money-laundering convictions.
What the record says
The Nigerian Voice reported a Department of Homeland Security social-media statement identifying Adebowale among people arrested by ICE. It attributes the prior convictions to DHS but says the agency did not provide the underlying court records, sentence, details of his immigration status or the circumstances of the latest arrest. The new detention should not be misreported as a new money-laundering charge or as proof of a newly committed crime. The arrest took place in the United States; Nigerian nationality does not make it a Nigeria-based case.
