The Ghana Police Service said officers received intelligence about a planned attack on GCB Bank, Ecobank, and Zenith Bank in Labone. Crime Watch Global says a tip from West African partners was received about a week earlier and passed to Ghanaian law-enforcement agencies.
Police reportedly arrested Augustine Okechuku Maazi and said two other suspects died during a shoot-out. Two vehicles and a blow pistol were reportedly recovered. The police account, tip connection, and circumstances of the deaths remain subject to official confirmation and legal process.
