The Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office said deputies responded on September 24, 2026, to a home on the 11000 block of Clay Pit Road after a report that an adult man was threatening family members or himself. The release identifies the man as Jarrett Brooks, 41, and says the encounter and his arrest occurred that day. It does not give a separate publication date for the release.
According to the sheriff's office, Brooks threatened deputies, kicked one deputy in the chest, tried to kick a Taser from another deputy's hands, then grabbed a knife and lunged at them. The agency said deputies deployed Tasers and that Brooks dropped the knife before he was taken into custody.
The sheriff's office listed charges including attempted murder of a law-enforcement officer, two counts of battery on a law-enforcement officer, aggravated assault on an officer with a deadly weapon, and resisting an officer with and without violence. It said Brooks was transported to Orient Road Jail and the investigation remained active. These are charges, not convictions.
